The Albuquerque Balloon Festival is held every fall
usually from the last weekend of September through
the first weekend in October.

The weekends at the beginning and end are the most spectacular
with dozens of balloons going up in waves.
When the "box effect" is present,  the balloons will ride one direction
up to one elevation and then the reverse direction up to
a higher elevation, putting them right back where they started.
One of the most spectacular events of the Festival is the "Special Shape" Event
Children of all ages enjoy seeing their favoriate characters come to life

There's more......
There's something for everyone to enjoy....
whimsical special shapes filled with equal parts
of hot air and wonder.  No matter who you are,
the Albuquerque International Balloon Festival
will leave you awestruck and wanting more.
Special shapes have increasingly been built
in the last few years, especially to market some products.
Most of the special shape balloons are flown in the U.S.A.
but other countries have a rising number
of these attractive balloons.
